A contemporary physical theatre exploration of the origins of the universe
Following the work-in-progress presentation in 2024, WestK and Théâtre de la Feuille present the final chapter of a contemporary physical theatre production inspired by the Chinese classic, The Book of Mountains and Seas.
Through physical expression, a blend of Eastern and Western performance traditions and a haunting soundtrack, the production leads the audience on a new exploration of the origins of the universe and the nature of existence in real and mythical worlds. The work reimagines a fantastical account of pre-Qin China, one that weaves geography, mythology, travelogues and shamanic texts with tales of strange happenings, mythical creatures, and legends from around the world.
This programme is co-presented and co-produced by WestK and Théâtre de la Feuille, and is part of the WestK Creators series.
